We provide interpretation/translation during our face to face emotional support sessions (click here to find out about our face to face emotional support) using interpreters from Leeds City Council’s Interpreting and Translation Team*. We will use interpreters in the languages they can provide including the following (click on each language to download a poster in that language describing our service and how to book).
A face to face session with an interpreter can be booked through our Freephone confidential helpline number 0808 8023344. Check opening hours here. Bookings are taken in English, if you need help with making a booking please ask a friend to make the call for you*.
We work with interpreters to provide appointments with the advocacy service. If you require an interpreter, please ensure it is stated on your referral form (you will be asked whether one is needed and what language you prefer to speak in). The interpreter we book will be a woman.
We will need a contact email or phone number so we can contact the service user to check that the interpreter is suitable before we confirm the appointment.
SARSVL will contact the service user to provide her with the name of the interpreter and to ask whether the named interpreter is suitable for her. There is a chance that she may know the interpreter, in which case she is entitled to request a different interpreter.
