Please make a difference to women and girls this Christmas with SARSVL’s Christmas giving campaign

As the Rape Crisis Centre for Leeds, SARSVL is a women only volunteer helpline service for women and girls who have experience rape or sexual violence at any time in their lives.
These women need our support all year round, and the Christmas period can be particularly hard for some women and girls, which is why it is crucial that we keep our helpline services open throughout this time.
We have increased costs at this time of year, which is why we need to ask for your help to raise the funds that we need to ensure we can stay open all year round.
We are asking for your help to raise the funds that we need to ensure we can stay open all year round.
An increased cost at this time of year is volunteer expenses. One SARSVL volunteer, Fiona, says:
“I love working on the helpline over Christmas. It really brings home to me why we’re here, to be that support for women no matter what. But when it’s late and there are no buses running, it’s good to know I can call a taxi and get home safely to my family.”
We are aiming to raise £1,000 by 1st January 2016.
£5 could pay for a taxi so that one of our volunteers can get home after her shift.
£15 could provide childcare for a woman to attend a session of emotional support at our centre.
£25 could pay to create Comfort Kits for our service users – filled with items to promote self soothing behaviour.
£60 could enable us to send one helpline volunteer on a “train the trainer” course that will equip her with the skills she needs to deliver training to 16 new helpline volunteers.
Any donation of any size will be gratefully received. Every penny you give will go towards supporting women and girls in Leeds.
Any funds we raise over and above our target will be used to support SARSVL’s mission and activities throughout the year.
