Support After Rape and Sexual Violence Leeds, Safer Leeds Domestic Violence team and Solace, a Leeds based charity that provides therapeutic support and advocacy to survivors of persecution and exile, are gathering together on Wednesday 30th November 2016 at the Leeds Civic Hall to mark International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
Join us at the event taking place from 1pm until 4pm, which will raise awareness of the impact of violence against women in the community and globally, what we can do to prevent violence, the psychological impact and trauma caused by violence against women and the journey of recovery after experiencing violence.
Tickets are free and the event is open to all women and men who support this cause in acknowledgement that men need to be a part of the conversation in ending violence.
Speakers at the event include Anne Burghraef, Clinical Director at Solace, Erene Hadjiioannou, Counselling Coordinator at Support After Rape and Sexual Violence Leeds, Carol Cooper, Poet and speaker and Sara Meekley, Counselling Coordinator at Bradford Counselling Services.
Please register for the event and join us for an afternoon of discussion and debate.
There will also be a pop-up exhibition of the photography of Shy Burhan from Staying Put’s Creative Recovery Butterfly Project, plus a marketplace of stalls from different organisations and social enterprises who raise awareness of violence against women or support people affected by violence.
